Laws must matter
America is a nation of immigrants, but it is also a nation of laws.
The stakes could not be higher
History will soon be made in a Federal courthouse in Pensacola, Florida. Last week U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson and attorneys for the US Department of Justice and attorneys for the State of Florida hammered out a preliminary schedule to hear arguments on the case in which Attorney General Bill McCollum and attorneys general from 13 additional states are challenging the health care reform legislation recently passed by Congress.
Help me bring our country back to its founding principles
The Democrats in Washington have made moves to hijack the automobile industry, the banking industry, the housing industry, and now it is health care.
March Madness: One step closer to socialized medicine
Last night the US Congress stood at the crossroads of history and chose the path of bigger government, more spending. They blindly followed their leaders down the slippery slope of socialized medicine—leaving in their wake the very principles that made this country great.
Taking Back Our Streets
They prowl the streets, sporting their trademark insignia; they spray paint four letter words on public buildings. They are armed and they are dangerous. Gangs recruit kids who are adrift and vulnerable and hungry for a sense of belonging. They enforce violent initiation rites—often at the expense of innocent bystanders. And, we are all victims.
A Different Kind of Crime
To many Floridians, the word “crime” conjures images of thugs with firearms, and shadowy villains skulking in alleys. However, too many people in Florida have learned the hard way that…not all criminals carry guns.
Health care summit proves meaningless, as Republican solutions fall on deaf ears
His highly touted health reform plan was on life-support. It was time for a second opinion. So last week President Obama finally invited the Republicans to the table.
Frivolous Lawsuits: A Hazard to Your Health
Frivolous lawsuits are not just affecting the economic health of Florida, they even may be a hazard to your health.
Excessive Government Regulations Stifle Small Businesses
Regulations are strangling small businesses—the very businesses that can create jobs and fuel economic recovery. Yet how does the Obama administration respond? By engaging in yet another new form of wealth distribution. Instead of paying down the massive federal debt, the Senate voted to increase the cap by another $1.7 million. Meanwhile, the President is expanding the failed bail-out scheme, this time filtering $30 billion through community banks. They’re just not listening.
Obama Plunges Forward Along the Same Failed Path
Last week I traveled to opposite ends of Florida—from Walton County to Miami and Palm Beach. On Wednesday I paused to listen to the State of the Union address. President Obama had a unique opportunity: to stand before the American people and outline a new vision for economic recovery, to map a course that heeded the voices of Virginia, and New Jersey, having heard the hew and cry from Massachusetts, and to change the direction of health care reform—away from a single-payer state-run system. Instead he plunged boldly along the same failed path of more spending, more government regulation, and more debt.
